I. What Information We Collect
Generally speaking, our website is informational. We do not collect any personally identifiable information unless you voluntarily provide it, such as when you sign up for our online newsletter, register for or post an entry to our forum, purchase errors and omissions insurance, bonds, or make a purchase through our online store.
When you purchase a product through our online store you will be asked for your credit card billing information, credit card number and expiration date. This sensitive information is verified and processed via a secure connection with GeoTrust using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) 256 bit high-grade encryption, which is a protocol for transmitting private documents via the Internet. This financial information is used for processing payments. We may use your billing information to contact you when necessary to fulfill your order.
Subscriptions to our online newsletter are handled by a third party. We refer you to their specific privacy policy for information on their data privacy practices.
You may give us information in a variety of other ways that include your name, address, telephone number, email address, and/or other contact information. We collect this information through:
- Applications and/or other forms you may submit to us.
- Transactions with us and/or our affiliates including information that you give to us when you make a purchase, or other account information such as balance, or payment history.
As is the case when you visit most websites, to administer our site, your visit triggers the automatic logging of certain anonymous information about your computer system such as the type of browser you use, the server name and your "IP" (Internet Protocol) address. When your web browser or email application requests a web page or email from another computer using the Internet, it automatically gives that computer the "address" where it should send the information. This is called your computer's "IP address." This address does not contain any personally identifiable information.
II. How We Protect Your Information
We also want you, our visitors, to know that we take the security of your information very seriously and that we take appropriate measures to protect the files in our data system. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal and state regulations to guard your nonpublic personal information, and we comply with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
You need to know, however, that due to the open communication nature of the Internet we cannot guarantee that communication between you and us, and between us and you, will be free from unauthorized access by third parties nor can we be responsible for information stolen from our servers or computer systems by information harvesting software which may have the ability to scrape data.
III. How We Use Your Information
When we ask you for information, we tell you, or it will be clear, why we need any personally identifying information from you either to fulfill a request from you or to provide information or services to you, such as when you sign up for our online newsletter, register for our forum, apply for errors and omissions insurance or bonds, or make a purchase through our online store.
We do share information with our affiliates that perform services on our behalf. We do share information to process transactions, respond to your inquiries, or provide information about the products or services that we offer.
Your nonpublic personal information is not sold to unaffiliated third parties. However, we may share your information with unaffiliated third parties when required for business purposes, such as in processing applications and claims, and servicing your business requirements.
We may have to disclose, transfer, sell or assign your information obtained through this website, or otherwise in our possession, to a third party as a result of a sale, merger, consolidation, change in control, transfer of substantial assets, reorganization or liquidation of USNA. We may also have to make information obtained through this website, or otherwise in our possession, available to law enforcement personnel and agencies when requested to do so or as required by law.
